Model 840/845

Contactless (Mifare)Smart Card Readers

ACCESS CONTROL WITH MIFARE SMART CARDREADER SYSTEMS

The CASI Model 840 and Model 845 Contactless Smart CardReaders provide superior access control with Mifare
® 1badges. There is no need for a smart card application pro- grammer. Models 840 and 845 are compatible with the entire CASI Micro/5 family of microcontrollers and related2RP, 2SRP and 8RP reader processors, and the Micro/PX-2000and Micro/PXN-2000 microcontrollers.

FEATURES

•Compatible with all Mifare 1 contactless smart cards•Intelligent bidirectional communication between the reader and microcontroller •Programmable communication modes:-Supervised F/2F -Unsupervised F/2F -Omron/Magstripe Strobe-Wiegand 4001-RS-232•Selectable 4-state input monitoring for request to exit and door contact•Built-in tamper controls •Power on self-test •The reader can be installed up to 500 feet (152 m) from the power supply and still attain maximum read range•Field wiring connector plug •Rugged, polycarbonate enclosure with integral backplate

SECURITY OF CONTACTLESS

Models 840 and 845 Contactless Smart Card Readers are easier to manage because there is no contact point for trans-action hacking and no reader slot for vandalism. Additionally, there is no reader degradation from the constant wear of a badge swipe.

READER TO MICROCONTROLLERCOMMUNICATIONS

Models 840 and 845 readers can be wired for SupervisedF/2F operation. Supervised F/2F communication allows theexchange of an electronic message between the reader and the microcontroller. A loss of communication is announcedat both the reader and the access control system host com-puter. Additionally, unsupervised F/2F, strobe, Wiegand 4001, and RS-232 communications are supported.

READER SECURITY

Models 840 and 845 are equipped with a tamper switchthat, if tripped, will make the reader instantly erase all the keys stored. This security mechanism renders thereaderuseless until reprogrammed by security personnel. The readers are constructed of rugged, flame-retardent, UVprotected and weather-resistant polycarbonate.
