Creating better environments

Marmoleum is the preferred fl oor covering from an ecological point of view. Manufactured from linseed oil, rosin, wood fl our, limestone, pigments and jute, it is fully biodegradable.

Life Cycle Assessments The best way to measure the environmental impact of floor coverings is by carrying out independent Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs). We use LCAs to chart the environmental impact of our products from ‘cradle to grave’. Marmoleum scores exceptionally well in LCAs. Nature provides us with renewable raw materials, which require surprisingly little energy to harvest, extract and process. The plants and trees that supply linoleum’s raw materials also produce oxygen and thus help reduce carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. The main ingredient – linseed oil – is extracted from flax and fused with pine rosins. Then wood flour derived from timber grown in renewable forests is used to give body to the product and to enhance the beautiful colours, which are created with ecologically responsible pigments. We also use limestone to create a fine structure and jute for the backing. Natural raw ingredientsProcessed materialFinished product
