METHACRYLATE - 1

TECHNICAL FILE METHACRYLATE (PMMA) The methacrylate (poly metyl methacrylate) is an ester thermoplastic which is amorphous, transparent, colorless and high hardness. It has a high tensile strenght, high resistance to impact and an excellent clarity. It stands stable in outdoors and it is the more resistant plastic material in these conditions (including sun, rain, salt fog and pollution). It doesn’t become yellowish and neither presents fissures with the action of UV ray. Technical Features Mechanical Elongation up to break Rockwell hardness Tensile modulos Impact resistance Izod Thermal Linear thermal expansion coefficient Working temperature From 70*10-6 to 77*10-6 K-1 From -40ºF (-40ºC) up to 50-90ºC (122194ºF) depending on if is a continuous work or not Physical Density Water absorption Excellent. It doesn’t become yellowish and neither crack. Chemical Resistance to chemicals: Resistant Acetic acid Sulfuric acid bichromatic Ethyl acetate Partially resistant Partially resistant Partially resistant Gasoline / Glycerine Alifatic hydrocarbons Mineral/organic acids Lubricants/oils (vegetables or minerals) Silicones Partially resistant

METHACRYLATE - 2

TECHNICAL FILE METHACRYLATE (PMMA) Coextrusion PMMA-PVC The coextrusion is a manufacturing process based on the extrusion of combined materials in order to obtain a final product with better properties. Emac® manufactures Novocanto® Methacrylate by coextrusion of PVC and PMMA. The result is a profile made of PVC covered with PMMA. Some of the properties of PVC are: high rigidity, deformation resistance, impact resistance, reduced permeability and high security of performance. Those properties complement the PMMA ones: high resistance to outdoors and UV, high color stability, cleanability...
