No matter if it is a whole room or just a
single piece of furniture, BoConcept interior
decorators around the world can help

When professional flower artist Makoto
Azuma and his wife bought their new home
in Tokyo, they needed to decorate the whole
flat. While Makoto Azuma has a strong
passion and professional interest for beautiful
design, this was a daunting and very timeconsuming
task. 'I am very aware of what
is going on, and I know what kind of style I
want. The challenge is finding the time, when
you also have a busy career.'
During their search for new furnishings,
they visited one of the BoConcept stores in
Tokyo. 'We liked the look of the furniture, and
when we heard about the interior decoration
service, we quickly booked a home visit.'
Shortly after, BoConcept interior decorator
Ayumi Kita came to their new home. 'Having
measured the rooms, we sat down and talked
about their preferences for style, colours and
functionalities. They both prefer black and
wanted a minimalist, monochrome base. With
the hectic pace of Tokyo just outside, they
wanted a calm retreat where they were able
to relax and find new energy.'
While Ayumi Kita worked on the drawings
for the flat, she was a bit concerned about
the choice of monochrome black. 'It can
easily be too boring and it can easily take
over the room, especially when it comes to
small rooms. So we worked with light pieces
of storage and instead of a whole wall unit,
shelves for one corner of the home office
created a light, architectural detail. Instead
of colours, curvy shapes on the tables added
a dynamic contrast to the smooth surfaces
of the storage units. When I presented the
drawings, I had included colour samples and
also proposals for decoration. They have
