The Biemmedue dehumidifiers arestand-alone equipment, which do notrequire any installation, apart fromplugging into the mains. The dehumidifier consists of a closedcircuit containing an environmentallyfriendly refrigerant. The main elements are:- compressor (n°2): this determines thecirculation of the refrigerant, - condenser (n°3): in this part, which isphysically similar to a car radiator manufacturers, thegaseous state fluid, driven by the com- pressor is transformed into liquid andreleases its heat; the heat generated heatsthe condenser itself, - coiled tube (n°5): in this element thefluid, which has become liquid, expands and reduces its own pressure,- evaporator (n°6): in this element, which too consists of a group similar to a carradiator, the liquid is transformed into gas by subtracting heat and consequentlycooling the evaporator. The refrigerant which has returned tothe gaseous state continues its routethrough the compressor and the cyclestarts again. The air for dehumidification is drawnthrough the dehumidifier by a fan (n°1)crossing first the evaporator (cold) and then the condenser (hot). The working cycle is thus the follow-ing: - The air passes on the surface of theevaporator, where it cools depositing theexcess moisture, which is transformed into drops of water that fall into the tank.- Then, the air passes through the con-denser, where it regains several degrees in temperature and is recycled into theenvironment as a drier warmer air, thuscontributing, in the mix that is deter- mined over time, to lower the moisturelevel of the premises, until the desiredvalues are reached. When the room temperature is undercertain values (15°/18°C), the tempera- ture of the surfaces of the evaporator drops in turn thus causing the formation of ice which limits the passage of air, and compromising the correct functioning ofthe system. To avoid this possible problem, withthe exception of model DR70, there is an automatic defrost function, which con- sists of the possibility of heating the evap- orator when the sensor records tempera-tures which are too low.In this case through a by-pass valve(n°4), the compressor sends the gasdirectly into the evaporator, without pass-ing from the condenser, thus determiningan increase in temperature. The by-pass circuit closes automatical-ly when the sensor reveals a higher tem-perature and the dehumidification cyclereturns to normal. It should be pointed out that thedefrosting system guarantees that thedehumidifier returns to perfect efficiency after a few seconds; moreover, it is theonly defrosting system that allows the fullefficiency of the dehumidifier even with very low air temperatures (under 8/10°C). 5 5
