3.1 Scrub Resistance 5.1 New Surfaces The Escenta system (BaseColor Matt Y2981, Escenta 01) was tested for wet scrub resistance according to ASTM D2486 “Standard Test Methods for Scrub Resistance of Wall
Building paints”. • Ensure all surfaces are sound, clean and suitably dry. • Dense or highly polished surfaces should be coated with an appropriate primer to promote effective adhesion. Test Method Result • Porous surfaces should be primed with a mist coat of BaseColor Matt thinned with up to 20% clean water. ASTM D2486 670 cycles Testing was carried out by an accredited testing laboratory. • Leave to dry. 3.2 VOC Testing 5.2 Previously decorated surfaces A sample of Escenta was tested for VOC following procedures outlined in ASTM D3960 “Standard Practise for Determining Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Content of Paints and Related Coatings” and ISO 11890-2 “Paints and varnishes. Determination of volatile organic compound (VOC) content.” • Ensure all surfaces are sound, clean and suitably dry. • Remove any loose or flaking material back to a sound firm edge. • Treat any organic growth with a fungicidal wash. • Fill any holes, cracks or surface defects.
