CHOOSING THE RIGHT STOVE If you are buying a stove for the first time, we offer the following advice to help you purchase the right stove for your needs. The most important consideration when choosing a stove is the required output to heat the room in which it will be installed. As a rough guide, measure the room and multiply width x depth x height (in metres), and divide this by 14. This will provide the average heating requirements for the room in kilowatts.
