Principle of Operation:

The UniSet E1 CO detection unit employsan N-type Metal Oxide Semiconductor sensor. An on-board hybrid microprocessor stabilizesthe response of the sensor by alternating its heater current (low current and high current). During the "high current" period, water vapor and other miscellaneous gases are removed from the sensor element's surface thus enhancing its sensitivity and repeatability characteristics. At an optimum moment close to the end of the "low current" period the output of the sensor is read by the microprocessor and its value is stored in memory. This cycle is repeated every one second. The stored sensor output value is updated at each "low current" to "high current" transition. The stored output value of the sensor iscompared against the two pre-calibrated "LOW" and "HIGH" CO alarm threshold values and when found exceeding these levels the respective CO status LED indicators on the unit cover are energized. The UniSet E1 has an on-board output relayand an alarm buzzer that can be independently configured to energize at different CO levels. The standard factory configuration is as follows : output relay energizes at the "LOW" CO alarm level and alarm buzzer energizes at the "HIGH" CO alarm level. To alter the configuration please refer to the operating manual of the unit. The UniSet E1 uses a thermistor in the sensorbridge circuit in order to minimize the sensor dependency on ambient temperature and humidity variations.
